Is it possible she meant leaving out the emotion words? Sometimes that does sort of overscore what the text is already doing.
Otherwise I don't know what she's talking about. One of the things computer folks are breaking their heads on is that they can't make computers sound like humans exactly--emotion is in every word we speak.
Okay, one last possibility--maybe she meant that you should hold something back? Trust the scene to do the work, not the explanation. Wait, that's the same as my first question. I tried, Meryl!

If we all have to guess what she is trying to say, then she didn't do a very good job teaching it, did she?
That's not to say you couldn't learn from her, but she sees writing differently, so you wouldn't be able to take it all as verses from the Bible of Writing.
If you stay it will feel weird and scary and she will be a little like Writing Satan trying to sway you from the Truth. But sinning is fun, and it is one way to make yourself write.
